How to Make a Led Project for Aquariums?

Having a home Aquarium is a modern way to decorate the space and still have pets that don’t give a lot of work!. Still, you have to pay attention to the special care that the fish need, and one of them has to do with the lighting: did you know that put the Aquarium lights isn’t just to make you more beautiful?

In addition to contributing to enhance the decor and draw attention to your fish, light is needed to keep them healthy and keep track of the plants that grow there in the water.

With that in mind, today we will show how to do it yourself, a LED project to illuminate your Aquarium by day or night. Check out:

How to Make a Led Project for Aquariums

Why Choose A LED Project

There are several different options for lighting aquariums, but the experts confirm that the LED is among the best.

That’s because, in addition to not get hot water and be more economical, the LEDs still come in different colors, which can be adapted to the needs of your fish and plants — the corals, for example, work best with blue lights, while other plants prefer shades of yellow or red.

Materials Needed For The Aquarium Lighting

Our project will help you with the electrical part, so the ideal is that your tank has a lid on which you can install the lights after ready. For them, you will need:

4 high-brightness LEDs of the desired color;

4 270 ohm resistors (learn what are ohms in our Glossary );

a key (to turn on and off the light);

cell phone charger (with standard voltage, 5V);

at least 80 cm covered wire;

duct tape;

sandpaper;

scissors;

duct tape.

If you have a multimeter, it is useful to find out which is the negative and positive of the cell phone charger, but your use is not essential: If you make a mistake, just invert the connections and try again. And you can get more from Topschoolsintheusa.com.

Do It Yourself: Step By Step

With all the materials listed at your disposal, it’s time to put his hand in the cookie jar. See how to mount the lighting circuit for your Aquarium:

  1. Sand the LEDs to make them dull.So, your light will be more diffused.
  2. Connect a resistor in each LED (always on the same side, remembering that the shorter leg of the LED is the negative), scrolling and passing electrical tape to hold well.
  3. Cut 8 strips of wire, with about 10 cm each.
  4. Connect one wire on each end of each LED, that is, each resistor that is already stuck on the LED, and the other on the other leg.
  5. Connect, one by one, the wires coming out of the LED resistors, forming a chain.
  6. Connect the end of the current (resistors) the on/off key.
  7. Connect, one by one, the wires that come out of another feather of the LEDs (no resistor), forming another chain.
  8. Cut the phone charger plug with the scissors and desemcape part of the wire.
  9. Connect one side to the power button and the other to the wire last leg of LED (without resistor) of the string.This is where the meter will help you differentiate between the positive and negative sides of the charger.
  10. Make sure that all circuit connections are well encapadas with duct tape before turning it on.
  11. Now just fix the circuit in your aquarium cover, plug the charger into the mains and control the lighting with the key!
